Day 3 First Day at SPC

Today marked the students’ first full day at Sun Pacific College. In the morning, they arrived on campus with their host families, beginning the day with a mix of excitement and a little nervousness.
The day started with a campus tour , followed by a scavenger hunt activity. As they walked around the campus, the students worked together to find answers to various quizzes. When they came across unfamiliar words, they naturally asked questions in English, such as “What does this mean?” It was encouraging to see them making an effort to communicate in English, even when they found it challenging.
At lunchtime, the students enjoyed lunch boxes kindly prepared by their host families and spent some time writing their journals.
In the afternoon, Mr. Shingo Higashimoto, Head of the Consular Office of Japan in Cairns, visited the school and shared valuable tips on becoming global citizens. The students listened attentively, and many seemed to recognize the special meaning of the experiences they are having here in Cairns.
After their afternoon English lessons, they returned home with their host families, smiling. It was a day filled with small but meaningful steps forward.

本日は、生徒たちにとってSun Pacific Collegeでの最初の一日となりました。朝はホストファミリーに送ってもらい、期待と少しの緊張が入り混じる中で一日がスタートしました。
午前中はキャンパスツアーが行われ、その後Scavenger Hunt（校内を巡りながらクイズに挑戦するアクティビティ）に取り組みました。分からない単語に出会うと、「What does this mean?」と自然に英語で質問する姿も見られ、難しさを感じながらも英語で伝えようとする様子がとても印象的でした。

昼食はホストファミリーが用意してくださったお弁当をいただき、その後ジャーナルを書く時間も持ちました。
午後には、ケアンズ日本領事館所長のヒガシモトシンゴ様が来校され、国際人として大切な視点や考え方についてお話しくださいました。生徒たちはその言葉に熱心に耳を傾け、このケアンズでの経験が持つ特別な意味を改めて考えることができました。
午後の英語の授業を終えた後は、ホストファミリーとともに笑顔で帰宅しました。一つひとつの経験を通して、確かな一歩を踏み出していることを感じられる一日となりました。
